Phil loves riding bikes and had his first (Suzuki 250) at 18 when he rode it over to Adelaide and back to Melbourne. But travel and then business put bikes into the background for a while before he rediscovered them in his mid forties (he is 25 now so he tells me). He has always been a Melbourne boy and grew up in Elwood, now living in Cheltenham. Lucky gets to travel a fair bit overseas (9 trips last year) and he has ridden Harleys in Thailand, China, Europe and the USA while undertaking what he calls business. He joined OzHog three years ago and was immediately impressed the first ride he attended when so many people came up and introduced themselves and said hello. He put some names to faces over the next few months and had his first impression (of really good people) reinforced many times over. He had ridden into the city just to have a look at bike shops one weekend looking for some saddle bags (he was riding a Yamaha), stopped at Harley Heaven to look at a bike, Wayne asked him if he wanted a test run, did so, fell in love immediately and you guessed it, traded in his other bike and bought the Harley the same day. When asked two years ago by Rod (Sid) to stand for Committee and help out, he put his hand up for OzHog Treasurer and remains in that position today, although he may also have a go at a Road Captain position next year if his schedule permits. His advice to new members is úThe people in the Club are really great but you need to be involved and come along to get to know them to get the best out of this clubÓ. Lucky also plays golf regularly (mid week) and when not riding, works as a Golf Course Architect based in Sandringham (see www.golf-designers.com).
