RIDING IN STAGGERED FORMATION

Figure 1
Shows how to ride in a staggered formation, leaving a minimum of a 2 second gap between you and the rider directly in front of you, eg bike 1 and bike 3. If it is wet/raining that gap should be extended to a minimum of 4 seconds. And as your speed increases, so should the gap, you travel a lot further in 2 seconds doing 100kph than when you are doing 50kph.

Figure 2
Shows what to do if there is a gap in front of you, you move up to fill that gap and the riders behind you follow suit.

Under no circumstances do you switch lane (see Fig 3)

Figure 3
Shows what NOT TO DO if there is a gap in front of you, you NEVER switch lanes.

And you NEVER ride side-by-side.

Follow these simple instructions and we will all arrive safely at our destination.
